House Vote an Important Step to Boost the Economy

(Washington, D.C.) – This afternoon the House of Representatives approved H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Today’s House vote is an important step forward in bringing economic prosperity to the Hispanic community, which has been waiting for tax reform for more than 30 years. Simplifying the tax code, lowering rates, and spurring economic opportunity by making the United States more competitive internationally – these are changes that will help all Americans. We want to thank the Members of Congress who have stepped up to the plate to support these important reforms.

This bill is not perfect, and we will continue to work on behalf of Hispanic families, workers and entrepreneurs to make it better. Our community will benefit from comprehensive reform to make the tax code simpler, more efficient, more equitable, and more predictable. The Senate will soon take up its version of tax reform, and further deliberation will follow. We are hopeful that Representatives and Senators from both parties will continue to work together, recognizing how important it is to boost wages and economic opportunity.”
