Florida Supreme Court Rejects School Choice Challenge

Florida Supreme Court Rejects School Choice Challenge

(Washington, D.C.) The Florida Supreme Court today rejected a legal challenge brought by the state teachers’ union to Florida’s largest school choice program.

Cesar Grajales, Florida Coalitions Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“School Choice is a powerful tool to ensure that our community has the best access to education possible. The court was right to defend the needs of Florida students by dismissing the attacks from unions. I am looking forward to working with the Florida legislature to continue expanding reforms that ensure parents and students can achieve their educational goals.”

Chris Hudson, AFP Florida State Director released the following statement:

“Today is a day to celebrate and our children’s future looks brighter than ever. Last year, the legislature enacted several common sense reforms to improve access to a quality education. Today’s ruling furthers the initiative to ensure that parents can make the best decisions for their children. The Court rejected the union’s argument that sought to put the interests of adults over the needs of kids. That’s a win for Florida families and the rule of law.”
