Encouraging Progress on Dreamer Relief Legislation

(Washington, D.C.) – In the wake of yesterday’s meeting between the president and Democratic leaders in Congress, there are signs that both sides are recognizing the need for legislation to resolve the status of those brought to the United States as children, through no fault of their own.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“It’s clear that there is strong bipartisan support to provide permanent legislative relief for immigrants brought here as children, through no fault of their own. The news that leaders in both parties – led by the President – are working together on a legislative package, is extremely encouraging. We encourage Members of Congress to continue this good faith effort and recognize the great potential that lies with addressing immigration reform for all our communities and the country.”
