Americans Have Made It Clear, They’re Not Happy with Our Government

(Washington D.C.) – Americans say the “government” is the biggest problem the U.S. currently faces, according to a new Gallup poll.  At 18 percent, government topped the economy, Unemployment , Immigration and Healthcare over the last four months. Furthermore, satisfaction with the direction of the nation still remains low –  at just 31 percent currently, after hitting its lowest score amidst the economic Recession in 2008. Satisfaction with the direction of the country has not reached 40 percent since the economic collapse.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of the LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Americans are seeing Washington flourish, while many of us are barely scraping by. As politicians become more powerful, the middle class is losing power and the certainty they will keep their jobs. And as government gains more control over our personal lives by mandating Healthcare , and creating more and more programs for more and more people, many small business owners are having a tougher time meeting payroll and households are seeing less of their paychecks. It has been years since they had faith in the direction of our country, and they recognize that a bloated government is just not making things better. With dissatisfaction over national security, economic opportunity, health care, Immigration , and other issues, it’s time for a new, less government-focused, approach in Washington.

It’s clear that failure from Congress and the president to work together has added to the disappointment and we can’t continue to stand still for another year. It’s time to get back to the basics of a limited government that focuses on its constitutional responsibilities and gets out of the way of our day-to-day lives. The recent elections brought new faces to Washington, and the American people are clamoring for government to move in this direction in order to get this country back on a track that leads to sustained job growth and a brighter future. The only way to do so is to work together on new approaches.”
