LIBRE takes their Health Care Personal Option Plan on tour throughout Virginia

ARLINGTON, VA—Today, The LIBRE Initiative (LIBRE), an organization dedicated to empowering the U.S. Hispanic community, announced their Personal Option Townhall Tour in Virginia, starting April 5 (full tour details below) — a series of townhalls throughout the Commonwealth with the Hispanic community, local leaders, elected officials, and medical professionals to introduce and discuss the “Personal Option” and their vision for Health Care for the Commonwealth and United States.

Tour Information:

Stop 1: Springfield

When: Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 6:30pm

Where: 7406 Alban Station Ct (Second floor – Room B204), Springfield, VA 22150

Michael Monrroy, Coalitions Director for The LIBRE Initiative-Virginia, released the following statement:

“Through this tour, we’re excited to further engage the Latino community on the pertinent issue of health care by offering a better way forward and discussing real solutions to transform our system towards a more personal approach all about choice and control – who you trust with the important decisions about your health care. It means customized, affordable health care for every Virginian.”

Background:

The Personal Option Plan is an alternative to a government-run “public option.” The Personal Option pursues 4 basic goals to create universal access to quality and affordable health care: expand access, reduce costs, end surprises, and ensure safety nets.   • A majority of Hispanics prefer a personal option to both Medicare For All (59%-41%) and the Public Option (54%-46%).
  • Nearly two-fifths of Hispanics consider the personal cost of health care to be a problem.
  • Hispanics, at a larger percentage than other ethnic groups in the U.S., don’t have a primary care doctor (47% of men, 33% of women).
