David Velazquez is the Deputy Florida State Director at The Libre Initiative. He was born in the Bronx, New York and raised in Orlando, Florida. He served in the United States Army as a Unit Supply Specialist for three years. Following his military service, he graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Church Ministries.
David has ten years of ministry experience in the Central Florida area. He served as Outreach Center Pastor at Calvary Assembly in Winter Park, where he oversaw local outreach to underprivileged individuals and families. He then went on to help establish Orlando North Community Church in Altamonte Springs and also worked at Northland Church in Longwood on the Resource Point project, a virtual network that provides tangible resources to those in need.
In 2008, David founded Life Hope Church in Orlando, where he continues to serve as Lead Pastor. In the fall of 2012, he worked with The LIBRE Initiative as the Orlando Field Coordinator conducting grassroots efforts and later joined the organization as the North Florida Field Director in October 2013. David lives in Orlando, FL with his wife and two children.
