Hon. Marilinda Garcia was first elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2006, at 23 years of age. She served four terms through 2014 when she also won the Republican nomination for New Hampshire’s 2nd Congressional District. During her time in the New Hampshire House, Marilinda’s legislative initiatives centered on economic development, transparency and regulatory reform in healthcare and the innovation industry.
Marilinda earned her B.A., cum laude, from Tufts University in 2006 and concurrently completed a B.M. with Academic Honors and Distinction in Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music. In 2010 she graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she received a Master of Public Policy.
Marilinda was also designated by the RNC as a national Republican “Rising Star,” elected to the New Hampshire Union Leader’s special edition “40 under Forty” honors program for the state of New Hampshire, received the National Foundation for Women Legislator’s “Integrative Healthcare Pioneer Award” and the Hildegard Behrens Foundation “Young Artist Humanitarian Award,” among others.
Born of an Italian-American mother and Spanish-American father, Marilinda has been featured in the Latino Futures, LATINO, Latino Leaders and Townhall magazines, as well as NBC and FoxNews Latino.
Marilinda Garcia’s commitment to public service stems from a principled commitment to economic opportunity, limited government and personal responsibility and she has built a reputation as a thoughtful legislator willing think outside the box to find innovative policy solutions.
