“What Makes YOU Hispanic” Contest in Final Week

"What Makes YOU Hispanic" Contest in Final Week

Part of The LIBRE Initiative Hispanic Heritage Month "Celebrating Latino Success" Campaign

(Washington, D.C.) – In the last week of Hispanic Heritage Month, the LIBRE Initiative continues to celebrate and promote Latino success stories. The "What Makes You Hispanic" social media campaign encourages people to join in the celebration of all that makes people Hispanic. We know that Hispanics are by no means monolithic and we encourage people to embrace the diversity of our culture by uploading their photos explaining what makes them Hispanic. The contest runs through October 15th.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement:

"This is a key time in history for Latinos in The United States. With each passing year, this growing demographic plays an increasingly important role in the culture, economy, and politics of our nation. We understand that Latinos are deeply impacted by  key public policy debates taking place  today. And as LIBRE's staff and volunteers work in communities around the country, we consistently hear one theme: Our Hispanic community wants to be American and achieve the Dream we have come to be known for all over the world.

This year, the LIBRE Initiative commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month by celebrating Latino success and the values and principles that unites them in that success. As Hispanic Heritage month winds down, the team at the LIBRE Initiative remembers that freedom is essential to empowering people to achieve the American Dream through earned success. And remain thankful for the opportunity we have to advance these goals and inform the Hispanic community about the virtues of economic freedom."
