An Unbalanced Budget Hurts Every American

An Unbalanced Budget Hurts Every American

(Washington DC) – Last week, the Senate voted in a heavily bipartisan manner to reject the president’s Budget proposal, which would have increased spending and Taxes by billions of dollars all while leaving an annual deficit reaching over $800 billion by 2025.  Instead, the negotiations of both chambers led to the passing of a balanced spending blueprint, 52-46. With the House and Senate now set to go to Budget conference, some Senators from both sides of the aisle are looking to address additional concerns. An agreement from the two chambers by the April 15th Budget deadline could ease the passage of appropriations bills later this year.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“We can’t keep putting the burden of financing government excess on the shoulders of Americans. Households across the U.S. are running on tight Budget s, while the federal government is spending more than it takes. It’s irresponsible and dangerous to continue on this path.

Proposals designed to balance the Budget are a good place to start. Without a Balanced Budget and bills that comply with it, we’re just enabling a system of careless spending that ultimately falls on us – the taxpayers – to bail out. We expect the two chambers to agree on a sensible and balanced plan that cuts wasteful spending and works with  – and not against – the nation’s entrepreneurs, who are the ones leading the charge in job creations in an economy that remains weak.”
