Obamacare, Problems Continue Mounting

Identity Theft and Other Risks Must be Addressed 

(Washington, D.C.) – With exactly six weeks to go before enrollment is set to begin under the Affordable Care Act, key parts of the law have been suspended or cancelled. The Obama Administration has missed numerous deadlines – including one for critical consumer privacy protections. Despite these acknowledged problems by both sides of the aisle, the White House has not requested legislative changes to address the concerns. Given these numerous serious problems and the refusal of the White House to work with Congress, there are increasing calls to abolish the initiative before it takes full effect.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement:

"Every day sheds light on new problems with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Just recently we learned that the Obama Administration has missed half of the legal deadlines included in the law. Privacy protections are months behind schedule, with final certification now set for September 30 – the day before enrollment begins. Regardless, the White House is determined to push ahead at the risk of jeopardizing the private information of millions of Americans. This law has too many problems to go forward. It is killing jobs, raising insurance costs, and even risking identity theft. If the President will not delay its implementation to protect Americans, then Congress must lead to find a realistic alternative to this law."
