The Latino Vote Could Change the U.S.

(Washington, D.C.) – According to the Pew Research Center, almost 27.3 million Latinos will be eligible to vote in the 2016 elections, and almost half of them are millennials. In  California, New Mexico, and Texas, Hispanics make up more than 25 percent of eligible voters. The median age among the nation’s 35 million U.S. born Latinos is 19 years old, making the youth the main driver of growth among Latino eligible voters over the next two decades. This swing constituency – comprised of those who identify as moderate, liberal, and conservative – will be critical in determining how Washington addresses government spending, health care, education, and other issues going forward.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“The Hispanic community is young, strong, and growing. Our voice matters, but only if we – as a community – take a stand and exercise our right to vote. The 2014 elections showed all parties should not take the Latino for granted. We’ve seen how misguided, big-government policies can be harmful to the Latino community. On key issues such as the economy and jobs, education, healthcare, and immigration, we’ve been left behind.

With the upcoming elections, it is essential that our community take a stand for policies that empower the individual and promote economic prosperity. That’s why my organization, The LIBRE Initiative, will take to the ground (across our ten states) to educate our community on the issues that affect us and encourage them to get out and vote. Let’s ensure that policymakers support ideas that actually grow our economy and limit government intervention in our lives – regardless of party lines. Most importantly, let’s get out and vote. We have the power to turn things around for a better America for all.”
