Garza Encourages Positive, Realistic Debate on Immigration Reform

(Washington, D.C.) – National policymakers continue to debate the best approach to reform of the nation’s immigration laws.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“The American people recognize that there are serious flaws in our immigration laws that we must tackle. However, they cannot be properly addressed through unilateral executive action – an approach President Obama has relied on, and which has left so many families in legal uncertainty. Instead, Congress and the president should work together in an open, legislative process, toward legislation that is market-driven, and which enhances border security, addresses those here without legal status, and gives certainty to those brought here as children through no fault of their own.

As lawmakers debate the best way to achieve these needed reforms, we at The LIBRE Initiative encourage our leaders to step back from extreme and impractical solutions, and seek common ground on real, durable, legislative reforms.”
